Actually, I intended him as a rougher, tougher version of myself and added the smoking because private eyes often smoke. Constantine was supposed to look like Sting originally, but I noticed that on one Hellblazer cover, where he's lying in a gutter battered and bleeding, that he looks a bit like me. This raises the horrible question, do I look like Sting would look if some one beat the shit out of him and left him in an alley?
